2/24/22 The deadline for the Extension Educator position has been extended to March 6, 2022!

University of Minnesota Extension is conducting a candidate search for a newly developed, full-time position in turfgrass irrigation and water resources. This position is funded for three years with the expectation that it will continue beyond that date. DEADLINE extended to March 6, 2022.


New research publication from our team - 1/3/22

Learn more about our research! A new research article from our group has been published in Crop, Forage & Turfgrass Management. This study used a survey to investigate what residents in the Twin Cities think of different lawn watering restriction scenarios. The results can help guide the development of strategies for conserving water used for home lawn irrigation.

National award for water conservation collaboration

For the past several years, we have partnered with the Metropolitan Council on the Twin Cities Lawn Irrigation Efficiency Study. Recently, the Metropolitan Council earned a national award for water conservation collaborations from the U.S.

July = Smart irrigation month, but how can these “smart” irrigation technologies help us in a drought?

For those of you who don't know, the Irrigation Association has deemed July as Smart Irrigation Month. According to their website, “Smart Irrigation Month is an Irrigation Association initiative celebrated throughout July to promote the social, economic and environmental benefits of efficient irrigation technologies, products and services in landscape, turf and agricultural irrigation” (Irrigation Association, 2020).
