The Turfgrass Science program has benefited from excellent industry support that has provided much needed infrastructure and long-term research personnel such as our field facility coordinator. As University financial resources continue to decrease, and the cost of education continues to rise, it has become a challenge for the program to fund graduate assistantships. These assistantships have been critical to our program and have resulted in a number of excellent contributions to sustainable turfgrass management in Minnesota and throughout the United States.
For the past few years, we have been working on the establishment of an endowed fellowship for turfgrass science research. This endowment would be used to fund graduate students in our program in perpetuity. Our current goal is $480,000, which would fully fund a graduate student every year. Currently, we have raised about $240,000. If you would be willing to contribute to this endowment, please visit our secure giving site.
