Please join us for the thesis defense seminar "Uncovering Hidden Phenotypes in Spike Architecture to Accelerate Domestication in Perennial Ryegrass" by Joan Barreto Ortiz, a Master's student from the Turfgrass Science program.

  • When: 1:00pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2022
  • Where: 310 Alderman Hall, St. Paul campus
  • Contact: Joan <[email protected]> for the Zoom link

Joan will present results from his Master's thesis project, including the development of a high-throughput phenotyping system to 1) quantify spike architecture and 2) redefine the idea of "trait" in the context of breeding perennial ryegrass for seed production. He will also present results from testing the imaging system in both agronomic and genetic experiments.
