Learn more about our research! A new, open access article by Kristen Jakstis and Michael Barnes has been published in Global Environmental Psychology. The authors reviewed the literature and found that winter is a neglected season, especially in the area of human-nature-interactions. Winter-nature interactions are just as important to understand as other seasons' interactions.

New research publication from our team - 3/28/24

Learn more about our research! A new, open access article by Michael Barnes, Ileana Campagna, Becky Haddad, and Eric Watkins has been published in Natural Sciences Education. The article describes the scarcity of managed urban landscape curricula in undergraduate programs in Minnesota, with only about 1% of courses reviewed containing these topics. The authors found there are opportunities to integrate this content into existing courses across various departments and institutions.

The Turfgrass Science team from the University of Minnesota was well-represented at this year’s ASA-CSSA-SSSA Annual Meetings held on October 29 - November 1, 2023 in St. Louis, MO.  Two people gave oral presentations and three people presented posters. New research publication from our team - 11/3/23

Learn more about our research! A new, open access article by Linda Jahnke and Michael Barnes has been published in Frontiers in Sustainable Cities. The researchers surveyed Twin Cities homeowners with rain gardens and found that while most residential rain gardens are effective, homeowner motivations for installing one vary and their satisfaction with their rain garden decreases over time.

This article discusses a case study that examines perceptions of natural turfgrass compared to artificial turf as they relate to their potential uses and perceptions of sustainability.
